The European Commission wishes to promote free Wi-Fi connectivity for citizens and visitors in public spaces such as parks, squares public buildings, libraries, health centres, street markets and museums everywhere in Europe through the WiFi4EU initiative. 

The budget of the WiFi4EU initiative is €120Million between 2018 and 2020. It will support the installation of state-of-the-art Wi-Fi equipment in the centres of community life, areas for regeneration and economic growth.

The WiFi4EU initiative resulted with 186 UK local authorities being awarded the €15,000 grant resulting with a total of over €2.7Million in funding from the European Commission.

Wi-Fi 6 is not just an incremental update to the previous Wi-Fi standard. 

There are fundamental and game changing innovations to Wi-Fi 6 that bring a whole new generation of business benefits with it. 

To put things into perspective, since the last standard of wireless networking Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) was released; 4K video, 4G/LTE, YouTube.com, Amazon Web Services, streaming music and iPhone 6 did not exist. 

High frequency trading (HFT) is progressively dominating the world of equity trading. It involves systems that execute trades at ultra-fast speeds, in less than a millisecond, across various stock exchanges. HFT serves as an excellent illustration of Big Data analytics, particularly the velocity aspect. For HFT strategies to yield profits, it’s crucial to process big data in real time. 

This paper explores the vision and the design challenges that HFT systems encounter and the potential for low-latency big data processing in this domain. 

Most HFT systems utilize real-time stream processing, which has certain limitations. We propose a theoretical framework for constructing HFT systems with Stream Insight using the complex event processing approach, which could address the shortcomings of stream processing. 

In this vision paper the suitability of this framework for HFT applications is examined and outlined.

Cybercrime, Watch, Alert and Terminate (CWAT)

Data breaches are one of the biggest concerns that organisations face today. They are often caused by internal threats such as an organisations own employees. Information leakage can occur through email, web uploads, printing and document copying to removable media.

Intelligent Wave's data loss prevention (DLP) solution protects organisations from these risks. The solution monitors every single PC activity and blocks unauthorised operations which are deemed suspicious and configured centrally through policies, flags and rules.

The solution monitors and takes action such as blocking and disabling high-risk authorised user PC activities in real-time.

CWAT, controls corporate network user activities which lead to malicious or unintentional sensitive, private and confidential data loss through the use of day-to-day appslications such as email, file uploads and downloads, printing, and through copying to portable storage media. It does this by by monitoring and blocking actions deemed to be suspicious on all endpoints of a PC, notebook connected to or away from the corporate network and via VM terminals.

CWAT has a unique file encryption (AES256) function. Even if information is leaked, data can still be protected.

The solution provides regulated sector organisations with evidence of a solution in place that is geared towards preventing DLP to regulators and provides evidence of actionable steps an organisation can take to recover from a data loss incident if and when it occurs.
